I recently did a photo and video shoot for the Atlantic Climate Designers on Newbury Street. They focus on designing bespoke interior hearing, cooling and ventilation systems.
🔸
We spent the day capturing portraits, interiors, details and examples of how their products work. They are such a wonderful team to collaborate with and I couldn’t be happier with what we ended up creating together. Scroll through to see!

I loved photographing this stunning home designed by @inkstonearchitects in Concord, Ma. We shot all day and finished with the exteriors on a cloudy and rainy Winter day. With proper styling, lighting and compositions, we were able to make some great photographs of this beautiful addition.

These photos I captured on a recent shoot for the new apartment complex in Fenway called The Bon. The design work was stunning and very colorful. I could have spent days shooting here. The stairway was my favorite part to shoot.
🔸
The building was still under construction and the window cleaning liquid froze which left a nasty smudgy mess. With a bit of selective focus and mild retouching, the problems go away! There were only a few areas that we couldn’t photograph because of the work in progress, but we made away with photographs I am very happy with.

Time for a little before and after! Here is a project I shot on Thorndike St in Cambridge, Ma for @mgdplus. Dusk is generally the best time to capture exteriors and with that, still there is much to be done before I get to present a final photographs.
🔸
If you swipe, you`ll see some notes that I got from this client about their desired ways to beautify any building I photograph. They are all things I was planning to do, along with some bonus retouching! I also brought in a blue sky, corrected the perspective, cleaned up the ground/street/grass, toned down the highlights/shadows, as well implemented many other of my special retouching techniques before presenting them to the client.
🔸
You`ll notice for the interior shots I completely removed the chaotic construction zone outside. How did I do that? Well, those are tricks of the trade... Hope you enjoyed a little background of how I edit my photographs! Let me know if you want to see more of this. Cheers!

Here it is! The MIT UROP Impact Report. I shot these environmental portraits all over the MIT campus over three days. Scroll through the images to see the full report. Big thanks to @tonyleonedesign for another wonderful collaboration!
🔸
I shot in classrooms, labs and secret rooms with highly sophisticated space cameras! There was so much to see and so many brilliant minds to ask questions! We had a short amount of time for each subject and feature, but with my trusty assistants @annakwalshphotography @mannixone to help bounce and guide the light, we made it work in all of the spaces with more than enough time! This was a super fun project to work on. Thanks for looking!

What a year it has been. As I move swiftly into the next year of living, I have spent a lot of time reflecting and appreciating. From the jubilant to the more harrowing emotional, spiritual and physical challenges I have endured over the 38 years of life, I cherish all the moments. Daily, I give thanks for my ability to breathe, walk and express myself authentically.
As I continue to decompress from Burning Man, I reflect on the deep connections I had with strangers around the world to create the biggest and most stunning interactive art piece I’ve ever been apart of. The Prairie of Possibilities was assembled in the dark hours of the late night and early mornings to avoid the intense, relentless heat and viscous dust storms. I am still in awe of what we created. People loved it so much that there was a wedding in the center cuddle puddle. After 2+ weeks on playa, I embraced the scene change with gravitas and levity.
This burn had endless synchronicities, healing playfulness, improv soul jamming, weird games, dismantled comfort zones, intense burnout, stunning sunrises, spontaneous love bombs, sharing ubiquitous awe with strangers, and fortified connections with people I love. There were many moments inside moments that opened up my heart and allowed me to see that when we come together in heart opening ways, we can make this world people centered with love as an abundant currency. My spirit danced ecstatically into the sunset of each day.
Between my birthday, reaching new levels in my career, Burning Man, Ragbrai, Firefly, Love Burn, following King Gizzard around on tour, endless camping, bike tours and cultivating love in new ways, this year would have made both of my parents very proud.
Photo descriptions in the comments!
Ragbrai was a blast! Here are some snaps from our trip. We assembled our bikes in Omaha and rode to Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. From there, we connected with our entire Blazing Saddles team and had one last final dinner together with our new friend Camille. Early the next morning, we started the official Ragbrai ride.
For one week we biked all the way to the other end of Iowa and landed in a small, sleepy river town called Lansing. Along this crazy adventure, we got up at 5am most mornings, packed up our camp and stopped off at multiple towns throughout each day. We made friends with the locals, shared road stories with other cyclists and had meaning connections with the the land and reconnected with ourselves. What is there to do on a bike for 5+ hours a day than to process and appreciate? We ate so much good food along the way and the PIE! Oh my goodness. I will still be thinking about that pecan pie we had from a church near Marble Rock even on my deathbed.
On the morning of our 110 mile day, Mario and I blazed through the first 35 miles fasted until we reached the town of Algona. Each day had its share of joy, difficulty, weirdness and fun. I am still in recovery and reminiscence mode. While I brace for the nine photo shoots I have coming up over these two upcoming weeks, soon after I head to Burning Man for the yearly pilgrimage! Many more stories to share, but for now enjoy some of these photos. Cheers!

Here is some recent work I shot for @proverbagency of the RFK Community Alliance. It was a mix of students, faculty and horses! I loved working with the stellar Proverb team who helped make everything go as smoothly as possible for me. We wandered around campus all day working with toddlers to the elderly. The full humanity gamut! Looking forward to sharing more!

Here are a few snaps from a recent portrait shoot with Lorena Huh for MIT’s Impact Report. We started shooting at Killian Court and wandered around the campus. After we found a beautiful little walkway with bamboo, I knew this would be perfect to snap some heroic shots of her. Thanks for standing in, Laurena! @mitpics

Throwback to when I was in China collaborating with @mikemai2awesome and roaming around the Southeast. Traveling is one of the most formative experiences one can have. Finding your comfort zone and blast right thought it can be energizing and awe-inducing. I didn’t have a goal when taking photos there other than capturing what is in front of me with only the guide of instinct. The camera is a great way to meet and connect with strangers even if we don’t speak the same language. No language is truly needed as we can all connect on that human level. Shot on a Nikon D800 with a 50mm 1.8 lens.

A treetop musical getaway! I loved shooting this quaint, sunny, quiet and stunning little room. It has records for days, an old electric guitar with one my favorite distortion pedals, the Rat! It was a dream to work with Julia the architect on this. Big thanks to the stylist and designer @maxbythesea for the huge help in making this space even more beautiful than it was!
🔸
Swipe to see more angles and the rooftop patio. And… a doggy! He was our little champion throughout the day as we used him in many of the photos. I captured this with my trusty @nikonusa Z7II and @elinchrom_ltd strobes.
🔸
This was a very sunny day and we had to make the exterior shots work in broad daylight. As a photographer, our job is to problem solve. I shot with keeping in mind the photoshop work. I bracketed all the exposures and blended them together in post. Looks natural, right? It is for the most part, but with a little bit more love from @photoshop. I loved shooting this space and want to go back and play some Hendrix on that guitar.

Here it is! The cover of the latest issue for Miss Porter’s School magazine! What a fun time this shoot was. I flew into Oakland in March to photograph Glenda for the cover portrait at her home. We had five locations around her house and the design team at Moth chose this one. I had a stellar assistant from the area that helped make the shoot smooth as butter. Glenda’s daughter was getting married two days after this, so we wanted to be as quick and convenient as we could!
🔸
The rest of the photos were shot on a rainy day at the campus in Connecticut a few weeks after the shoot with Glenda. Many thanks to the entire school staff and students for making this assignment such a fun time!

Boom! I made it into a Boston Globe Magazine feature! What a fun shoot this was. We had dogs, cats and super friendly home owners who let us play inside their stunning Cambridge home!
🔸
I photographed this house over two days. With @thefrarm as my stylist and all around helper, these pictures would not have been what they are. Using my trusty @nikonusa mirrorless camera and @elinchrom_ltd strobes, I was able to capture the quick moving pets as they ran around the house.
Thanks @stylecarrot for making this project get the eyes it deserves and for @kachmardesign for the stunning design work! Swipe all the way to see other pockets of beauty this house has.

Here it is! The final photos from my last shoot with @kachmardesign in Arlington a few weeks ago. The prettiest bathroom I’ve ever shot! A very bright and spacious kitchen. The bedroom that overlooks the city and has a lot of natural light. What more could you ask for in a home?
🔸
How did I light the bathroom with all the reflections do you ask? Well, flip to the final photo in this series to get a little look at how I blocked out the light. I composited the bathroom photo from two dozen other pictures I took. I blocked out the reflection from multiple different squares at a time and then using @photoshop composited them all together! Stitch it, baby! When photographing interiors I keep in mind how I’ll retouch it later. The rest of the shots were a mix of natural light and my durable, trusty @elinchrom_ltd strobes. Big sheets abound for bouncing that light!
🔸
I had fun on this one with one of my favorite clients SKA! Boom!

Cover shot! (And everything else inside!) I had the pleasure to work with @mothdesignboston to create images for the quarterly magazine Bulletin for Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, CT.
🔸
I photographed portraits, their new building, still life, day-in-the-life, classroom goings-on and so much more! We staged some shots and mimicked sunlight where needed. Sometimes I was just the fly on the wall. I ad my trusty cart with me all day carrying my lighting, lenses and everything else. It was a long day, but this is what I love to do.
🔸
The key to photographing people is to make them feel comfortable and affirm them that no bad pictures will see the light of day. Crack jokes where needed. I applaud Moth and the entire faculty for letting me hit their beautiful campus and roam around to capture pictures all day. I’m very proud of how all the pieces came together for this. Such fun!

Good luck to all of those in the Boston marathon today! Here are some photographs from a shoot I did with @samueladamsbeer celebrating their 26.2 beer. Fun times as always working with the Sam team. Swipe to see all the fun shots from this project.
🔸
We shot the outside pictures on a cold and cloudy day in a parking lot. We created the sunlight with two @elinchrom_ltd strobes and some bounce. For the inside pictures, we used various lighting setups and many foam core panels to bounce! That! Light! The final shot of the day was this first one you see here. And that’s a wrap!

I recently photographed the fun and energetic MGD Plus team at their office. For this one, the only option I had was to keep it simple. Clean light, white backdrop, genuine and flattering expressions.
🔸
I had about an 8’x10’ space to setup four lights, a backdrop, foam core and my tripod. Not to mention me and my lovely subjects! We didn’t have the luxury of having a private space where I can connect with each individual on a human level, which is my first step at disarming and letting them gain my trust. I had to photograph them in an area where everyone else could watch and listen. Not an ideal situation to make people feel completely comfortable, but with some honest and fun conversation that allowed us to connect, we made away with some personal and stylish photos of everyone. ✌🏽

I shot the stunning restaurant redesign for Trade in downtown Boston. I’m a sucker for old brick walls, high ceilings and endless window light. The open vibe of the place makes you feel as if you’re in Vienna or some place. Shot with my @nikonusa Z7II with @elinchrom_ltd strobes on my trusty @manfrottoimaginemore tripod that I’ve had since I was a student. These final photos were a mix of natural light, strobe and image layering in post. I try to get everything right in camera and then only use photoshop when necessary. Fun shoot!

I recently shot a new apartment building called Arthaus in Allston, Ma. I collaborated with long time friends and client Visual Dialogue, who are an award winning design group of creative geniuses based in Boston. This beautifully modern building is pleasing on the eyes inside and out. Over three days I captured the photo and video of the interiors and exteriors. A super fun shoot! It was also a joy to have a job located less than a mile from where I live. Enjoy the snaps!

Here are some photos I captured from a home I recently shot in Cohasset. It overlooks the water and lets in a lot of beautiful light. A homey, modern, yet comfy design style echoes throughout this open home that pumps California living vibes. I could have spent three days shooting this stunning space. Upon arrival, my client greeted me with my two favorite C words: croissants and coffee! I love my job. I hope you enjoy the pictures! More to come!

I converted them to a color halftone even though these rare digital pieces will never be in print! You can view the rest of the images and use ETH to purchase at opensea.io/bengebo. I’ll be adding one new NFT a day. They start at 0.03 ETH.

Bringing it all back home. My photography career started here when I was taking pictures of my breakfasts in 6th grade with the family Fujifilm point-and-shoot camera. I have a big show coming up in July that I am ecstatic about! It’s showcasing a tight twenty edit of various travel photos over the span of my career. It was a joy to step away for a few days and revisit the archives and get the show ready. Here is a shot from Utah when I was last there in December of 2017. I’ll be sharing more shots from the show as we draw closer. All my work will be shown in the Lakeville, Ma library. My hometown! More details to come! Happy weekend! 🤙🏽

This is Ken, an uncle of a friend of mine. He is a builder, tinkerer and craftsman. It was a joy having met him and hear about what kind of projects he has worked on in his life. He built his house in a very remote part of Vermont and carved an old wizard face out of a deer antler for me when I visited. He also had a little cove of crystals from around the world he built, which I found fascinating. Ken, I salute you.

Imagine having this kind of bedroom as a kid? A super fun loft style kid’s play palace. If I got into trouble and was sent to my room, “Sure dad, I’ll just play with my G.I. Joe’s on my second floor balcony and do flips off of it onto my bed after. Then go on my comfy chair swing while watching wrestling.” The room also has it’s own bathroom. Excellent work by @krausassociates.

I recently shot two new bike shelters in Cambridge at Harvard for Duo Guard. It’s right along the bike path on Western Ave and easy to find. It’s a beautiful and rad way to keep bikes safe from the weather and rub it in to all the people who drive in with their fossil fuel vehicles. As a kicker, I also biked to this shoot! Fun assignment! Throwback to one year ago this week when I photographed the new bedding line for @lingerhome in a house in South Boston. It was the last big shoot I had before the lockdown. We had about half a dozen of us on set and shot over two days. Remember when masks weren’t a thing and life was simpler? This shoot was so much fun and we got some stellar shots of this cute kiddo! Big thanks to the team for all the prep work and making it all come together! Also for hooking me up with a duvet after the shoot, it’s the most comfortable I’ve ever owned!

A basement done right. I fell in love with these shelves and the lounge vibe this space provides. Captured with two strobes and one reflector to bounce the light back into the dark tones. I layered in darker exposures so the texture can show in the white fabric. Otherwise, it would have been blown out! Can’t tell, right? Swipe to see the other angles. My job is easier when I have such gorgeous locations to shoot. 🙏🏽

While I love styling and capturing wide angle architectural photos, the details of a space are what grab me. I feel they help support and show the full story. My approach to capturing the details is to have the mindset as if I am taking a portrait of them. Lighting choice, angle and composition. Everything is worthy of being photographed, especially when it was something that required a lot of time to get created. Here is a few snaps from a home I shot for @mgdplus.

I spent the last week working 12+ hour days getting our Florida home ready for the market. There were some sad moments combing through all of my dad’s belongings and finding relics from our childhood. I could feel this chapter ending and the next one beginning, which I found somewhat therapeutic. A cleansing of the past helps create more space to build rich memories ahead. We cleaned, power washed, painted, landscaped, packed, staged the house and took pictures. It’s the first time I’ve styled and shot photos of a home I’ve had so many fond memories in. It’s bittersweet really. While we hit it fast and hard, I’m happy with the work we put into it and how all of my pictures came out.

Here are pictures from the most fun shoot I’ve done in years. For @samueladamsbeer I captured a few people from the LGBTQ community in their company for a National Coming Out Day campaign. We had the music blasting, strobes firing, and an upbeat and happy vibe. It was the first portrait campaign shoot of 2020 where the clients, talent and myself were all in the same space together. It made all of us appreciative.

Today would have been my father`s 67th birthday. It`s only been a few months since his passing and I found more of him inside me than I ever knew. When I think of Dave Gebo, what first comes to mind is his wisdom, values, strong character, love for those around him and his sincere laugh. He cared for my brother and I so deeply and I try to keep him alive through my actions. Be nice to everyone and work hard. That`s what he taught me and it`s those simple actions that have given me the life and community I have cultivated. Thinkering, gardening and fixing things are the activities I find help still keep him close to me.
🔸
His death has strengthened my desire to truly be the best version of myself I can be. I have chosen to surround myself with others who help me stretch the days, lose track of time, make me laugh and enable me to flourish. Since his passing, I have found myself desiring to create, travel and build upon meaningful relationships more than I ever have. We had some of his remains made into these beautiful stones (swipe to see). Wherever I travel he can now join me in taking in the sights. Thanks, Dave, for all the love and hope you`ve given me and those around you.
